Our Technical and Quality Assurance staff in Singapore and China offices have many years of sea experience having sailed as Chief Engineers and Master Mariners with various shipping companies before working ashore.

We have dedicated and loyal staff, both ashore and at sea, most of them have worked in our company for more than 15 years!

Singapore – Management Staff

Managing Director

Mr Joel Ye Zhan Hua is well versed in technical aspect of shipmanagement. He sailed as Chief Engineer for many years, and worked ashore in a reputable shipyard. He is our pioneer staff, joining our company as a technical superintendent and rising to the rank of Managing Director.

He set up our own Crew Resources in Philippines in the early 1990s to promote Filipino crew management to international Shipowners. Later, he incorporated subsidiaries in Shanghai and Tianjin, to recruit well trained and experienced Chinese officers and crew direct. He established good working relationships with Chinese shipyards so as to ensure better service and competitive costs when our vessels go for drydocking and repairs.

Knowing synergy of co-operation promotes a win-win situation, he expanded our company through joint ventures with established international shipping companies, resulting in our subsidiairies – Belchem Singapore Pte Ltd and Belchem Philippines Inc. As a man of vision, he set up our representation office in Yangoon to tap on the emerging economy of Myanmar.

With his strong leadership, knowledge and experience, our company is able to serve our Shipowners well and promote customers’ satisfaction!

Financial Controller  

Mr. Anthony Sng joined the company in 1988.  He is head of the Financial Department, and is in charge of all financial and corporate matters of the Belships’ Group of Companies in Singapore, China, Philippines and Myanmar. He manages the companies’ and vessels’ financial accounting and reporting systems and ensures that financial reports are prepared both accurately and timely to the shareholders and Shipowners.  Besides keeping abreast of changes in financial regulations and legislation, he has developed a good external relationship with auditors, solicitors, bankers and statutory organizations.

Senior General Manager - Technical (Fleet 1)

Mr Yee Tuck Foo, Head of our Technical Department - Fleet 1, has been in the marine industry for more than 30 years, beginning as a sea going engineer till present position as Senior General Manager. Having quit the sea he joined the company in 1988 and has been involved with managing various types of vessels not limited to Bulk Carriers, Car ships and Container vessels rising from the ranks of Assistant Superintendent till present position.

Over the years he has amassed various experience in drydocking supervision, ship inspections, New building supervision, from sea trials till vessel delivery from Shipbuilders.

Besides having sound technical knowledge he has good Commercial knowledge and has assisted Shipowners in handling disputes whether it involves loss of hire, cargo claims, performance claims with Charterers while still maintaining good relationship with them.

At the same time keeping good relationship with P & I Clubs and Hull & Machinery underwriters, Classification Societies, Ship repair Yards and Shipbuilders is his forte to ensure Shipowners enjoy the best service from these organisations.

His skills in handling the Technical staff under him has greatly enhance the effectiveness of good shipmanagement beneficial to Shipowners.

Senior General Manager - Crew

Miss May Wong is the Head of Crew Department, overseeing the activities of our Crew Departments in Singapore, China, Philippines and Manila. She is the pioneer staff of our Singapore Crew Department, and spearheaded Chinese crew recruitment exercise and established cadetship training programs with Chinese maritime academies when our company started Chinese crew management. She has more than fifteen years of experience in marine crew management and has good working relationships with officers in local and overseas unions and maritime training institutions.


Senior General Manager - Technical (Fleet 2)

Mr Aw Chin Meng joined Belships Management in July 2018. He is heading our Technical Department - Fleet 2 and Purchasing Department. He came to our company after 35 years of dedicated service with the NOL/AET group.

From Chief Engineer, he came ashore as Technical Superintendent taking charge of Container, General Cargo and Tanker ships. During the tenure with NOL/AET, he was posted to Philippines in 1991 with Lorenzeo Container Lines, part of the NOL group. His next posting was to AET - UK Office with AET Shipmanagement, taking care of vessels trading in Europe from 2006 to 2009. He has worked in various capacity from Chief Engineer, Technical Superintendent, Fleet Manager, Regional Senior Manager and Head of Drydocking and Maintenance with NOL/AET. 

He holds a MSc - Maritime Studies from Nanyang Technological University.


Senior General Manager - QA/Safety, Operations, IT

Capt Lee Kah Hooi was working as Marine Manager / DPA with our subsidiary company in May 2006, overseeing the tanker fleet operations and status of SIRE inspections. He left to gain wider exposure and experience and came back to Belships Management in Nov 2018. With more than 20 years of working experience at sea and ashore, he has held a number of senior marine roles, namely Flag State Auditor/Inspector, Vessel Manager of bulk vessels and marine advisory role for ship owners/managers on TMSA and OCIMF SIRE, and General Manager of a tanker owner/manager company.
